About the E-val 2 project
The E-val 2 project
The E-val 2 project, which ran from December 2000 to December
2002, brought together partners from nine European countires in
order to share ideas and practice, undertake research and develop new
tools and instruments for the evaluation of vocational education and
training.
The E-val 2 project developed a virtual web based environment to
support those involved in evaluation activities, whether as evaluators
or as a promoters or as project managers.
E-val was based on the idea of evaluation as structured and
skilled intervention in the cycle of project planning, implementation
and review, which adds value by providing feedback, offering
alternative interpretations, challenging assumptions and helping
stakeholders make judgements about the effectiveness and impact of
their policies and practices. In this context, it is essentially a
diagnostic and developmental process, the aim of which is to maximise
the collective learning of the organisation and the wider community and
improve quality in the future.
Aims of the project
The aims of the E-Val project were to:
- Improve the relevance and effectiveness of training projects by
improving the evaluation process through the development of new tools,
instruments and methods
- Inform the capitalisation process by developing an instrument for
aggregating data across projects and countries and by developing new
methods for ensuring evaluation products are disseminated
- Develop ICT-based solutions to the problem of training and project evaluation which will be transferable to companies and SME, on-line help for evaluators and project managers, electronic tools for evaluation and a virtual environment to support the community of practice engaged in evaluation activities.
